The Volunteer Voice is a bi-monthly newsletter published for our dedicated volunteers who give so much. Your time spent volunteering makes a difference in the lives of people who have Down syndrome. DSG needs 40-50 volunteers to help us on Sunday, September 11th from 12pm-4:30pm at the Weston Red Barn Farm. Volunteers are needed to help serve food, run games,paint faces, and help with other fun activities.
This is a great family friendly volunteer opportunity! Red Barn Farm is located at16300 Wilkerson Rd., Weston, MO 64098. Dress is casual and food and drinks will be provided.

Volunteers for STARS events will socially engage with our teens and strike up fun conversation with them at a variety of fun events! Volunteers must be 17 years of age or older to help with this program. Volunteers will meet staff at the DSG Center to volunteer for the events below.                                                         

• Sept 7:  6pm to 8pm,  Bowling, AMF Northland  Lanes –  2 volunteers
• Sept 10: 9am to 1pm, Shatto Milk tour - 3 volunteers
• Sept 14: 6pm to 8pm, Movie Night -2 volunteers
• Sept 21: 6pm to 8pm, Yoga - 2 volunteers
• Sept 23: 6pm to 9pm, Photo shoot, Crossroads Area- 2 volunteers
• Sept 28: 6pm to 8pm, Karate – 2 volunteers
• Oct 5: 6pm to 8pm, PowerPlay- 6 volunteers
• Oct 12: 6pm to 8pm, Hip Hop lessons- 2 volunteers
• Oct 19: 6pm to 8pm, Games 2 U – 2 volunteers

Are you ready for a HALLOWING good time? The DSG is hosting a dance for teens and adults with Down syndrome on Friday, October 21st. 25 volunteers  are needed from 6-9:30pm to decorate, check in guests, help with refreshments, and of course make sure everyone has a dance partner!

*Must be at least 17 years of age to volunteer for this event

Come on down for a SPOOKY fun time! 8-10 Volunteers are needed on October 13th from 5:45-8:15pm to socialize with kids ages 7-11. Kids will be eating dinner, decorating pumpkins and watching a magic show! Please contact DSG or call 913-384-4848 if you would like to volunteer!

The DSG holds special events/meetings for parents. We are in need of volunteers to take toys to daycare room, maintain childcare for kids with Down syndrome and typical kids, feed them, and have a fun time with all the kids while the parents are occupied at these meetings or events at the DSG center. Dress is casual. Toys and activities for the children will be provided.

• September 6th - 5 sitters are needed from 6:15pm-8:45pm. Dinner provided.
• September 17th - 15 sitters are needed from 8:15am-11am. Breakfast provided.

DSG is always looking for creative, fun volunteers to be apart of our Prom Committee. Committee members are asked to bring ideas to the table and help make decisions for our annual prom! The prom committee meets one Saturday a month from October - April. Please contact DSG if you are interested in being on the 2012 Prom Committee!
